If you want to understand the controversy surrounding Alessio Vinassa, it is difficult to start with his current image as a technology investor and simply work backward. The older story begins much further back, in the cryptocurrency world, with projects that operated around tokens, investment returns and multi-level marketing.
One of the names that repeatedly comes up is Lira Coin Club.
In 2019, BehindMLM published a detailed review of Lira Coin Club. At the time, the company did not publicly identify its owner or management, and its website provided little information beyond an affiliate login system. According to the investigation, participants were encouraged to acquire LIC tokens and then “lend” them back to the company in return for advertised monthly returns. The company also promoted mining-related investment packages and an MLM compensation structure.
There is an important limitation here. The Lira Coin reporting did not establish Vinassa as the owner of the company.
However, comments attached to the investigation later alleged that Vinassa was the real owner or promoter of Lira Coin. Other commenters claimed that the project later changed names or evolved into other ventures associated with the same wider network.
Those comments are allegations, not proof. But they become more interesting when viewed alongside what happened in the years that followed.
From Lira Coin to WeWe Global
By 2021, another cryptocurrency MLM project had appeared under the name WeWe Global.
BehindMLM’s review of WeWe Global described its first model as being built around WEWEX tokens and an MLM structure. The company also promoted travel-related benefits, but the investment opportunity was the part that attracted attention. BehindMLM reported that the WEWEX model eventually collapsed and that WeWe Global subsequently moved into a new structure involving LyoFI and LyoPay.
This is where the story becomes much more complicated.
LyoFI’s domain was registered in July 2021, and WeWe Global announced the project as a partnership later that year. The LyoFI website identified DigiFi Group Ltd in the British Virgin Islands, while LyoPay was associated with another company called DigiLYO App Ltd. BehindMLM highlighted the similarity in naming between the corporate entities associated with WeWe Global, LyoFI and LyoPay.
The new system was built around LYO tokens.
According to BehindMLM, LyoFI promoted a cloud-minting model with advertised returns of up to 300 percent over 900 days. Investment plans ranged from €100 to €100,000, with withdrawals made in LYO tokens that participants could convert into Bitcoin.
Again, the important point is not simply that another token had appeared. It was that the new project emerged after the previous WEWEX model had run into trouble, while much of the broader network and marketing structure remained connected.
Enter Luiz Goes
This was also when Luiz Goes became a prominent public figure in the ecosystem.
Goes presented himself as CEO of LyoPay and appeared in WeWe Global marketing presentations. BehindMLM documented his role in promoting the businesses and noted that he was operating from Dubai while publicly representing LyoPay and participating in WeWe Global events.
At first, BehindMLM itself considered Goes a possible person behind WeWe Global, while acknowledging that it could not definitively establish who controlled the operation.
That changed somewhat in November 2025, when Goes himself contacted BehindMLM while asking for his name and photographs to be removed from several articles.
Goes said he had been a contracted technical employee of VAI Marketing Management and that his role involved fintech and blockchain development. He acknowledged that he had been CEO of LyoPay and had given WeWe Global presentations through Zoom and at events in Dubai.
He then made a much more serious allegation.
Goes claimed that Alessio Vinassa was the owner of WeWe Global, VAI Marketing Management and a majority shareholder of VAI Marketing. BehindMLM reported that Goes supplied a Dubai company registration in support of his claims.
This is one of the most important pieces of the Vinassa story, but it needs to be described for what it is.
It is a claim made by a former executive associated with the ecosystem and reported by BehindMLM. It is not the same thing as an independent court finding establishing that Vinassa owned or controlled WeWe Global.
That distinction matters throughout this investigation.
The LYO collapse and another reboot
The LYO model did not last.
By January 2023, BehindMLM reported that the LYO token was collapsing and that WeWe Global had launched another project called L-Finance, or LFI. LFI introduced another token and another investment structure, with advertised annual returns reaching extremely high levels.
The pattern was becoming easier to see.
A project would appear.
A token would become the centre of the investment opportunity.
The business would recruit participants.
The token would eventually run into problems.
Then another structure would emerge.
By August 2023, BehindMLM reported that WeWe Global had collapsed for a third time.
But the story still was not over.
In September 2023, The Blockchain Era appeared.
BehindMLM described The Blockchain Era as another reboot of the WeWe Global ecosystem. LyoTrade and LyoWallet appeared within the same broader network, while the new project introduced different tokens and promoted an AI trading-bot concept.
New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority subsequently warned about WEWE Global, The Blockchain Era and LYOPAY. The FMA said the entities were offering cryptocurrency products and services through webinars and public events in New Zealand while not being registered or regulated to provide those services to New Zealand retail clients. The FMA’s warning described WEWE Global as also known as The Blockchain Era.
That regulatory record is important because it does not depend on anonymous internet comments or arguments between former business partners.
It is an official warning from a financial regulator.
Where Vinassa enters the chronology
The difficult question is where exactly Vinassa fits into this sequence.
The Lira Coin material contains allegations about his involvement, but does not establish ownership.
The WeWe Global and LyoFI reporting initially focused more heavily on Luiz Goes and other people publicly associated with the companies.
Later, Goes directly alleged that Vinassa was the person behind WeWe Global and its successor projects.
There are also anonymous comments from people claiming to have worked within the ecosystem who have made similar allegations about Vinassa’s role.
Taken individually, these claims have limitations.
Taken together, they create a question that deserves deeper investigation.
Was Vinassa simply an investor or adviser who became associated with these projects?
Was he involved in management?
Did he own companies connected to the ecosystem?
Was he a financial backer?
Or, as Goes alleges, was he actually one of the people controlling the wider operation?
The public material I have reviewed does not provide enough evidence to answer every one of those questions conclusively.
But it does provide enough material to justify asking them.
The earlier chapter matters
The reason I keep coming back to Lira Coin is that it shows how early the cryptocurrency side of this story began.
Lira Coin was already attracting scrutiny in 2019.
WeWe Global appeared around 2021.
LyoFI and LyoPay followed.
Then LFI.
Then The Blockchain Era.
Then Xera and later Homnifi.
The names changed, the tokens changed and the websites changed, but the broader chronology continued to attract criticism and regulatory attention. By 2024, Australian regulators had warned about Xera, and in 2025 ASIC added WeWe Global to its Investor Alert List.
That history does not, by itself, prove that Vinassa controlled every one of these companies.
What it does show is why his earlier business history cannot be separated from the current public image without examination.
Today, much of the discussion around Vinassa is about AI, technology investment, cybersecurity and leadership.
To understand how that image came to exist, however, you have to go back to the beginning.
And the beginning is not AI.
It is crypto.
It is Lira Coin.
And then it is WeWe Global.
